Behavioral

Ecologist

I am a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Oklahoma. I work with livebearing fishes to answer questions related to sexual selection and ecology. Currently, I am focused on understanding the evolution of mate preferences in Limia, a group of livebearing fishes endemic to the Caribbean. I also work with sailfin mollies (Poecilia latipinna) to understand how perceived status influences pre/post-copulatory mate preferences.

ONGOING PROJECTS

MALE MATE PREFERENCE IN LIMIA

When we think of mate preference, we often think of choosy females and competitive males. However, what happens when females and males are choosy? What factors favor male mate preference to evolve? Here I use behavioral analyses to compare male preference of three Limia species.
